Hundreds of people came together Friday to say goodbye to a beloved faculty member at Prairie View A&M University.
Students and alumni from the school's famous marching storm band performed Friday at the funeral of professor George Edwards. He directed the band for 30 years before dying in a car crash last week.
Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee described Edwards as a great American.
A highlight of Edwards career came earlier this year when the marching storm band became the first to participate in the Rose Parade pilot program, which includes bands from historically black colleges and universities.
FOX 26 Photojournalist Greg Ramirez documented the service.
